Magnus Wedberg says: For all strange M/32 errors, I repeat my mantra: have you made sure that the server is bound to one processor and one processor only? This includes dual-core single-socket solutions, and might include HyperThreading, dunno about that. Mercury/32 behaves /very badly/ on SMP systems. Most really strange errors I have seen was because of 1) not bound to a single processor 2) two mercury.exe processes started simultaneously for some reason, eating mail and/or duplicating queues
FProt AV (which can be used by Mercury for virus scanning) does not allow updates to the virii db via ftp^, but http is supported^. Michael D. Setzer II says: I have been using wget to get the updates for some time:
wget -T 60 -N http://updates.f-prot.com/cgi-bin/get_randomly?fp-def wget -T 60 -N http://updates.f-prot.com/cgi-bin/get_randomly?macrdef2 wget -T 60 -N http://files.f-prot.com/files/dos/f-prot.zip
http://bama.ua.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A2=ind0506b&L=mercury&T=0&P=4858 Batch file that also stops Mercury while the AV sigs are being updated.
